Acupuncture for Children

Gentle, needle-free acupuncture for babies, children and teenagers

I offer gentle acupuncture for children using Shonishin, a Japanese form of acupuncture specially adapted for young bodies.

There are no needles, and treatment is always adapted to the child's age, temperament and individual needs.

Support at every stage of childhood

Children's needs change as they grow, and so does the way I work with them.

Babies & young children

Babies and young children often come for support with:

  • sleep difficulties

  • colic and digestive issues

  • frequent colds

  • recurring ear infections

  • allergies and sensitivities

  • settling and general wellbeing

School-age children

As children grow, I often work with:

  • sleep and digestion

  • anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • concentration and regulation

  • recurring health concerns

  • periods of change or transition

Older children & teenagers

For older children and teenagers, sessions may offer support around:

  • anxiety and stress

  • ADHD and difficulties with focus or regulation

  • sleep

  • emotional overwhelm

  • tension and physical discomfort

  • navigating periods of change

Every child is different, and treatment is always individual.

A gentle approach

Shonishin is a traditional Japanese form of acupuncture for children. Instead of inserting needles, small specialised tools are gently brushed, tapped or pressed along the body and acupuncture meridians.

The tools remain on the surface of the skin, making the treatment gentle and non-invasive.

We go at your child's pace

Some children are curious straight away. Others need time to feel comfortable.

There is no forcing and no expectation that your child has to lie still or behave in a particular way.

I take time to get to know each child and adapt the treatment according to how they respond.

Parents are welcome to stay throughout the session.

What happens in a session?

We begin by talking and settling in.

I take some time to understand what is happening for your child and to get a sense of how they are feeling that day.

Then we gently begin the treatment.

Shonishin tools are used on the surface of the skin, without needles. The treatment is adapted to your child's age, temperament and response.

The session follows your child.

Some children are quiet and relaxed, while others move, talk or ask questions. There is no need for the session to look a certain way.

Parents are welcome to stay throughout the session.

Sessions are 30 minutes and take place in Amsterdam.
